Health Nutrition and Hygiene

A Sustainable Solution for Healthier Communities

Addressing the challenge of water scarcity and enhancing sanitation in the community demands a comprehensive and concerted effort. Upright Nigeria took a step towards addressing this issue by constructing a borehole at the Dogon Ice (Iche) IDP camp in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. This borehole, completed on January 30, 2023, has provided the community with a consistent supply of clean, treated water, significantly improving hygiene standards and the overall well-being of the people in Borno State.

A sustainable water solution has been implemented by installing a permanent water borehole. This system also includes an overhead polymer tank, ensuring a consistent supply of clean, hygienic, and treated water. This setup offers a reliable water supply for the area.

In another effort to improve health, nutrition, and hygiene, Upright Nigeria Foundation sets up another dependable and sustainable water supply in Nasarawa State.

Roaming Nomads

Upright Nigeria works in collaboration with Rugan Fulani Mission School, Bakoshi, Uke, Nasarawa State.

The nomadic people used to wander the wilderness with their livestock, far from any civilization, without a permanent home. However, our intervention in Rugan Fulani, Bakoshi,  led to the demobilization and settlement of these nomads. Upright Nigeria assisted the roaming nomads with a new homeland where they could now cultivate the land and enjoy a stable life. They now have the opportunity to develop themselves as a community in various legitimate pursuits such as trade, earning, saving, and developing an independent economy.

The Site Preparation included clearing the land, leveling the ground, and setting up temporary structures. The planning and design ensured the foundation would be safe and steady to support the school structure.

Earth Blocks

Earth blocks are a form of engineered mud that is made by compressing and stabilizing mud with cement, limestone, or chemicals. Upright Nigeria used this age-old technique to build construction materials for the much-awaited first block of primary classrooms.
